Thank you for taking the time to browse the Harris
Judo Club web site. We are a well established British Judo Association Club
with classes catering for all ages and abilities. Judo is a close contact
sport combining Tachiwaza (Throwing) and Nawaza (Holding) techniques. The
aim is to throw your opponent flat on their back with force speed and control
to score Ippon (Outright Win). If you fail to score Ippon by the throw you
can also hold your opponent on their back for 25 seconds again for Ippon (Outright
Win). For senior players there are Kansetsu Waza (Arm Locks) and Shimewaza
(Strangles). If this all seems a little violent fear not as Judo is the gentle
art. The word Judo means the Gentle Way. Judogi (Judo Jackets) can be borrowed
but please wear jogging bottoms and tee-shirt.
Juniors £3.00 per lesson.
Seniors £4.00 per lesson.
